So finally, Apple has announced its Wild Card Entry to the tech world, The Apple Intelligence. It will change the way of Apple Fans. Tim Cook the company CEO summarises it as “Impressive technology ever made” but for me it is something which is basic and not extraordinary. Let’s dive into the Announcements and Company statement on Apple Intelligence.
The Essence of Apple Intelligence
On June 10, 2024, at the Apple WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) event in Toronto, Ontario, Apple announced its personal intelligence system, The Apple Intelligence. The key capabilities of Apple Intelligence will be discussed in the section here.
Genmoji: Apple is planning to launch its AI system along with iOS 18, which has the feature to create custom-generated emojis based on text descriptions. This will also have the feature to create Genmoji based on images and can change it to any using a text prompt.
This AI is a planner and can shortly say an Assistant where it can prioritise notifications and group them based on their importance. It will provide a summary of the messages and show the key details on the lock screen.
Notes and Phone Apps in the Apple environment have encountered some major upgrades from this Apple Intelligence, as these apps can now record, transcribe, and summarize audio. It is very helpful for saving time and can give a summary of the call and recall the key points.
Apple intelligence has made some exceptional tech for image creation and helps users express their feelings in new ways using AI. The Image playground allows the users to animate, sketch and illustrate images and can use it directly in the messages. This allows users to experiment with their skills and showcase their talents. This feature helps users to choose from numerous themes and accessories, including places and even characters.
The Architecture Behind Apple Intelligence
“We at Apple believe that privacy is a fundamental human right,” Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, said in a privacy-conference keynote in 2018 at Brussels. The privacy and data security are the major priority of Apple, and they have not failed to maintain it on their Apple Intelligence. Before knowing about Apple Intelligence Architecture, we need to know about LLM (Large Language Models). These models have some complexity and poses some challenges with user privacy.
The Hardware is a neutral engine with Apples latest M and A series chips which are dedicated to work fast in Machine Learning tasks and have the capability to run trillions of operations in a second. The chips are high performance and optimised for power efficiency.
The Software components are the Core which integrates the ML models into applications and ensures the privacy. These hardware and software components work together to enhance, smooth and private operation of Apple Intelligence.
The new Era of Privacy: ChatGPT
Apple has announced that they will collaborate with ChatGPT, the GPT-4o versions that will be co relate with the Siri, Apple Voice Assistant. The Apple privacy allows you to choose if u want to share the data or information with Chat GPT. The AI is still undergoing changes and have time for continuous improvements. There have been an arise of controversy on Apple for collaborating with ChatGPT related to data privacy. As a fact both Apple and Open AI has guaranteed its user that they will not use the data of users to train their AI platforms. On an overview, Apple has been compromising their trust on their user data to a third-party organization, which in my opinion, Steve Jobs the founder will not be happy with.
